B.C. participates – Hands Across the Sands, June 26th

- we had 6 show up- but we were a last minute group… without a lot of prep, and we could see groups across the water and it made us feel united! Jenny
- 12 people came to Kelowna, but we got 26 signatures for the petition
- Hi All, 10% of our total island population showed up to join hands at Big Trib. Over 100 people…whoohoo! Shannon
- What a great turnout for Victoria at Willows Beach today – we counted 400 people! Renee and I are sitting in her kitchen debriefing on the day’s events and working on our press release. Pictures and video will follow ASAP! Lisa
- We were 50 very dedicated people on Saltspring Island – despite of all the other events that were going on at the same time on the island. Lots and lots of signatures for the petitions. Ready for this to be an annual event – hopefully to celebrate some shifts in the energy politics and our use of energy in our lives next year. Blessings to all of you, Susanne
- Gabriola Island had a wonderful 36 folks out to our Hands Across The Sand event! Like Saltspring, many other events going on (market, Home & Garden Tour) but all eager to continue to gather and raise awareness around this. Considering the short notice (3 days), our turn out was quite good. Next year, with more time to plan, it’ll be great! We have 2 community newspapers, both of which turned out to take photos. I hope other locations will update us…will keep you informed. In Victoria yesterday as people gathered I heard stories of how gatherings were spontaneousily organized right up to noon on Saturday, June 26th.
